Light Up The Sky On Your Wedding Night

Imagine lighting up the sky with beautiful floating lanterns at nightfall on your wedding day. We love this ancestral, south-east Asian tradition that consists of you and your wedding guests each making a wish before casting your lantern up into the night sky. As the legend goes, the higher your lantern floats the more chance your wish has of coming true.

These sky lanterns, also known as Thai lanterns, are available in several colors so to match your wedding color theme. The white lanterns do, however, in our opinion, stand out best against the night sky. In addition, made from a bamboo structure and covered in rice paper, they are fully biodegradable.

An ideal way to involve your guests in a fun activity before hitting the dancefloor or cutting your wedding cake. This way, at least, your guests are guaranteed to have stars in their eyes all evening…

Sky Lantern has a special wedding pack consisting of 30 or 40 white lanterns for 89 or 115 euros respectively plus postage and packing (approximately 10 euros within France). Delivered in 24 hours, this is an ideal way to celebrate your new union…just make a wish!!!

Marriage in the Sky

This amazing concept that was introduced in Europe last year by the company Events in the Sky consists of a real wedding ceremony celebrated on a platform 50 metres up in the air! Not for the faint hearted, this heavenly experience is ideal for adventurous couples who want to bring their chapel a little closer to angels and transform an ordinary marriage into an unforgettable experience that will leave them, their witnesses, families and friends speechless.

The marriage ceremony can be held anywhere (beach, public place, private property, castle, historical site…) as long as there is a surface of approximately 500 m² that can be secured. There is no limit to your imagination! Imagine a wedding over the Grand Canyon or in the Venice sky. Or a marriage in the middle of the Jaipur stars. All these dreams are now possible with this unique concept.

The decoration and colours can be customised by every couple according to their wishes. Couples can even choose to perform a bungee jump from the platform after getting married!

Marriage in the Sky is hosted on a platform, where 20 guests are strapped into aircraft seats and suspended at a height of 50 metres by a team of professionals. You can order a second crane with a platform (or more if required) at the same height as the marriage platform, for entertainment such as music or dinner. For more information or a price quote contact Events in the Sky directly.

Exclusivity and Safety are guaranteed with this original concept. Events in the Sky is now operated in more than 15 countries and received the official authorizations from the most stringent countries such as Germany, USA, Canada, Australia, South-Africa…

The sky is no limit for this heavenly experience!

Relationship Etiquette Around The World

Inspired by a recent article published in Marie Claire (UK) magazine, we thought it would be fun to take a glimpse at relationship etiquette around the globe. Based in Paris, we organise marriage proposals, elopements and weddings throughout France for couples coming from around the world. Its always interesting to know a little about the cultural backgrounds and family’s expectations when planning such an important event in their lives.

FRANCE
Average age of marriage:
Women: 29.7
Men: 31.9

Relationships are quite laid-back in France and do not follow any strict dating practices. French men are quite macho. Every decision is talked through but it is often the man who has the final say. Women tend to do most of the housework but men do an equal share of the cooking.

JAPAN
Average age of marriage:
Women: 27.3
Men: 30

In some circles in Japan its taboo to even talk about sex, in public or with your partner. Younger generations tend to be more free spirited and young professionals embark upon more passionate relationships. Its still not acceptable to live together before marriage in Japan.

RUSSIA
Average age of marriage:
Women: 23.3
Men: 26.1

Marriage is still the ultimate goal for Russian girls. You don’t wait around when you find someone special. Russian men are known to cook and take care of the finances. Men still make the big decisions for the couple. Women do the rest!

UK
Average age of marriage:
Women: 30
Men: 32.1

British couples are typically quite reserved and stereotypically British when it comes to talking about their sex life. Humour is a big part of British culture. Men often try to break the ice using humour before making the leap and asking a girl out. This is perhaps one of the most “equal” cultures when it comes to making decisions and talking through problems but British women are still expected to cook more than men and do more housework, even though men do participate more and more.

INDIA
Average age of marriage:
Women: 21.3
Men: 25

In India, girls still live with their parents until they get married. Girls expect to be treated like princesses. Indian boys are insecure and proud and are expected to pay the bills. Young men are very conscious of breaking India’s sexist culture and treating women like equals. Sex before marriage is still strictly off-limits in India. It happens but is never discussed. Arranged marriages are still widely imposed.

USA
Average age of marriage:
Women: 25.1
Men: 26.8

In the US, most couples start living together before they get married. This can be quite early on in a relationship. Decisions are often made together. It is common for female friends to discuss everything, including sex. Household chores and cooking are often shared. Stricter “dating” rules apply which non-natives may have trouble understanding.

If you wish to comment or add your own country to this list, we would love to hear from you!
